This Privacy Policy describes how WitNinja ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our Android mobile application, WitNinja (the "App").

1. Information We Collect

We collect information to provide and improve our services to you.

a. Information You Directly Provide

• User Preferences and Settings: We store settings you configure within the App, such as selected personas, emoji preferences, rewrite length and risk settings, auto-copy preferences, dark mode overrides, launch on startup preferences, and notification listener settings.
• Input Data for AI Processing: When you use features like text rewriting, joke generation, pickup line generation, "Visual Wit" (image-based replies to conversations/bios), or "Reply to Bio" (image-based replies to bios), the text you input, the conversation context (if enabled), or the image (screenshot/bio) you provide is sent to our AI providers (Google Firebase AI) for processing. We do not store this content after processing, except for your local rewrite history, which is stored locally on your device.
• Referral Information: If you participate in our referral program, we may collect information related to your referrals.

b. Information We Automatically Collect

• Device Information: We collect device-specific information such as your device model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers for analytics and to improve app compatibility.
• Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the App, including features used, generation counts, ad interactions (impressions and clicks), and app performance data.
• Analytics Data: We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymized data about your usage patterns, such as session duration, crashes, and feature engagement. This helps us understand how the App is used and improve it. We do not collect personally identifiable information through analytics.
• Notification Content (if Context Awareness is enabled): If you grant WitNinja notification access and enable "Context Awareness," our ContextListenerService can read the content of your incoming notifications (e.g., messages from chat apps). This content is temporarily processed in memory to provide relevant AI suggestions and is stored locally in your ConversationCache on your device. It is not transmitted to our servers or AI providers for storage, nor is it linked to your identity. You can disable this feature at any time.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• To Provide and Maintain the App: To deliver the core functionality of the App, including AI-powered text rewriting, image analysis, and overlay services.
• To Improve and Personalize the App: To understand user behavior, fix bugs, enhance features, and tailor your experience within the App (e.g., remembering last-used personas, applying custom settings).
• For Analytics and Performance Monitoring: To monitor the performance of our App, identify trends, and analyze usage to make informed improvements.
• For Advertising: For non-Pro users, we display ads via Google AdMob. Information may be shared with Google AdMob to deliver relevant advertisements and measure their effectiveness.
• For Referral Programs: To manage and track our referral program.
• For Security and Fraud Prevention: To protect the App and our users from fraudulent activity and to maintain security.
• To Comply with Legal Obligations: To meet any applicable laws, regulations, or legal processes.

3. How We Share Your Information

We may share your information in the following circumstances:

• With Service Providers: We share necessary data with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as Firebase (for AI processing, Remote Config, Analytics, Crashlytics), Google AdMob (for ad delivery), and subscription management platforms like Qonversion. These providers are obligated to protect your information.
• For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court order or government agency).
• Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred to the acquiring entity.
• With Your Consent: We may share your information for any other purpose with your explicit consent.

4. Your Choices and Rights

• Permissions: You can manage various permissions for the App through your device's settings, including "Draw Over Other Apps" and "Notification Access." Disabling necessary permissions may affect the App's functionality.
• Context Awareness: You can enable or disable the "Context Awareness" feature within the App's settings, which controls whether the App accesses your notifications.
• Personalized Ads: You can manage your ad personalization settings through your device's Google settings.
• Local Data: Most of your user settings, conversation history, and rewrite history are stored locally on your device within Jetpack DataStore. You can clear this data by clearing the App's data through your device's settings.

5. Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. Local data is retained on your device until you clear it or uninstall the App.

6. Security

We implement reasonable security measures designed to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

7. Children's Privacy

Our App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will take steps to delete it.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
